Saturday Science, Fall 2009

University College and the Department of Physics invite the public to join with Washington University scholars and teachers to explore the frontiers of science. Lectures are offered Saturdays in free of charge to the public and registration is not required. All lectures will be presented at 10 a.m., in Crow Hall, Room 201. Crow Hall is near the east end of the Danforth campus, directly to the north of Brookings Hall. Look for the shiny observatory dome on the roof of the building. Science Saturday Lecture Series

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) and UNESCO have designated 2009 as the International Year of Astronomy. In Fall 2009, we highlight four topics that are currently of great astrophysical interest. Lectures will be presented by full-time faculty in the Washington University Department of Physics. Lectures are offered free of charge to the public and registration is not required.

October 17: Ernst Zinner - "The Production of the Elements"

October 24: Clifford Will - "Roll Over, Galileo: The New Astronomy of Gravitational Waves"

October 31: Henric Krawczynski - "Observation of Astrophysical Black Holes"

November 7: Mark Alford - "Cosmology"
