MLA Saturday Lectures, 2010
The Master of Liberal Arts Saturday Lecture series is sponsored by the Master of Liberal Arts program and University College. The lectures by Washington University faculty, offered annually every Saturday in February, are free of charge to the public and no registration is required. This year’s theme is "sustainability," a complicated and pressing topic that spans many fields and has many implications—personal, social, national, and global. Sustainability is a key element in Washington University’s education and research agenda, evident in the formation of The International Center for Advanced Renewable Energy and Sustainability (I-CARES) which coordinates collaborative research into biofuels and other alternative energy applications.
This year’s keynote MLA address will be delivered by Chancellor Mark Wrighton, followed by perspectives from Washington University faculty in philosophy, biology, and earth and planetary sciences. The lectures are offered free of charge to the public and no registration is required.
