This certificate offered through University College provides a range of courses in the major responsibilities and challenges of human resources to prepare students to work effectively in the field. Originally designed for Washington University master's students and as a complement to the curricula in the schools of business, engineering, and social work, the certificate is also available to the general public.

The Certificate in Human Resources Management (HRM) is a 15-unit program composed of four required courses and one elective.
Students will also choose 3 units of elective course work from the offerings in the University College Masters of Arts in Human Resources Management Program.
A minimum of 9 credits toward the HRM Certificate must be taken in University College. Washington University master's students in the schools of business, engineering, and social work may apply toward the certificate up to 6 relevant credits in the HR field from their home school, subject to the approval of a University College graduate advisor.
Authorized P/F credit from graduate level course work in the Olin School of Business may apply if the work was completed prior to the student’s admission to a University College program of study and the student received a course grade of Pass or High Pass. Once admitted to a University College program of study, students who are authorized to take courses in Olin and apply them toward their program of study are required to convert P/F to letter grades at the time of registration.
With permission, students may enroll in HRM classes before they are officially admitted to the certificate program. To see if you are eligible, complete the "Graduate Student-At-Large" application found on our Apply page.
Admission to the program is on a selective basis. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
