Friday, May 2, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the West Campus Conference Center, sports historian Chuck Korr will discuss the documentary film he co-produced, "More than Just a Game," which is told through the eyes of five former political prisoners.
This film, co-produced by Korr and South African film-maker Anant Singh, documents political prisoners playing soccer at Robben Island prison, where Nelson Mandela was held. It follows the story of how political activists unjustly imprisoned on Robben Island in the 1960s rise above their incarceration by creating a football league, the Makana Football Association (Makana FA), thereby finding an outlet for their passion and commitment to discipline through football.
